Compensation

Compensation

Did you ever think of putting on a technical workshop or presenting an interesting case at an NWAFS meeting but thought that it isn't worth all the work? Well, maybe this may be of interest to you!
NWAFS Workshop Instructor and Paper/Research Presenter Compensation

In an effort to further encourage and promote member involvement at our annual meetings as well as a way to bring nationally recognized instructors to the region, the Northwest Association of Forensic Scientists Executive Board has finalized an instructor/presenter compensation package. Please share this with your employers so they are able to consider it when discussing your training options. The offers are available for any person regardless of membership status or public/private employment so please share with those that may have a valuable workshop topic.

We encourage our members to secure funding for meeting attendance through their employers regardless of being selected as an instructor/presenter. However, during these tough economic times, the Association is in a position to bring to a meeting those that would provide great instruction and content to their peers who may not be able to do so on their own or through their employer.

The compensation offers are split into three categories: Full day workshops, half day workshops, and Technical Session presentations. After workshop instructors and paper presenters are selected for an upcoming meeting, the newly formed Seminar Planning Committee (SPC) will make an offer to an instructor/presenter based on the overall value of the workshop/paper. The following details a maximum level of compensation for each category.

Full Day workshop

Hotel - 2 days
Per diem - 2 days
Travel to/from (this will be on a sliding scale (TBD) based on distance from home to meeting)
½ off meeting registration, must pay for attending other workshops

Half day

Hotel-1 day
Per diem - 1 day
Travel to/from (this will be on a sliding scale (TBD) based on distance from home to meeting)
½ off meeting registration, must pay for attending other workshops

One technical session presentation
